Garden of Abu Talha
The highlighted area in the rear of Masjid-e-Nabwi marks the approximate spot where a garden owned by Abu Talha (May Allah be pleased with him) existed during the Prophet’s (Peace and blessings be upon him) time. The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) often visited this garden and drank water from its well.
Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) narrated that Abu Talha owned the best gardens in Madinah, more numerous than any other Ansari. One of these gardens was known as Bir Ha, and it was his favorite resort. When Allah revealed the verse: “You will not attain unto piety until you spend of that which Ye love.” [3:92], Abu Talha (May Allah be pleased with him) offered this garden to the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) to be spent in the path of Allah. The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) was pleased and suggested that Abu Talha (May Allah be pleased with him) distribute the garden among his heirs.
