Masjid Fatah
Masjid Fatah, also known as the Mosque of Victory, is one of the mosques located at the site of the Battle of the Trench (Ghazwah al-Khandaq). The battle took place in 5 AH when a coalition of Arab tribes, along with the Quraysh, laid siege to Madinah. The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) and his companions dug a trench around the city to defend it, a strategy suggested by Salman al-Farsi (May Allah be pleased with him).
Masjid Fatah marks the spot where the Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) made a prolonged supplication for victory during the battle. Allah answered his prayer, sending a powerful wind that dismantled the enemy’s tents and caused confusion among their ranks, leading to their retreat. This mosque commemorates the triumph of faith and perseverance over overwhelming odds.
