Jabal Rumah (The Archers’ Hill)

Jabal Rumah, also known as the Hill of Archers, is a small hill located near Mount Uhud. It played a crucial role during the Battle of Uhud in 3 AH. The Prophet (Peace and blessings be upon him) stationed 50 archers on this hill under the command of Abdullah bin Jubair (May Allah be pleased with him), instructing them to remain in position and protect the rear of the Muslim army, regardless of the battle’s outcome.
Despite the initial success of the Muslims, many archers disobeyed the Prophet’s (Peace and blessings be upon him) orders, leaving their positions to collect the spoils of war. This allowed Khalid bin Waleed, who was leading the Quraysh cavalry, to exploit the vulnerability and attack the Muslims from behind, turning the tide of the battle. This incident emphasizes the importance of obedience and discipline in Islam.
